Tremendous Thursday!
Summative projects went home today along with the rubric. Students are to create their own mechanism using at least one simple machine. Students are to create something that does not already exist and needs to have a purpose/function for humans. These are to be completed at home and on February 17 students will present their mechanism to the class. Students are also to complete the writing portion at home.

We first wrote our homework in our
agendas and then we were off to Gym.
During UOI we learned about
friction (the force that holds back the movement of a sliding object) and
inclined planes (a slanting surface connecting a lower level to a higher
level). We did an experiment to see how different surfaces affect how far a toy
car would be able to travel. We used sandpaper, wax paper, white paper, and
aluminum foil. We first made predictions about how far the car would travel on
each surface. We then preformed our experiment as a group.
We found out that the sandpaper and
aluminum foil had more friction then the white paper and wax paper since the
car was able to travel farther on the later two surfaces (wax paper and white
paper).
We then wrote our Data Management
and Probability Math test.
After first recess and lunch,
students had Music and then French.
Following second recess and lunch,
we did a fun Daily five activity. We focused on Work on Writing today. Our
writing prompt: The thing I love forever is….
Once students are finished I will
hang them outside the class so you can see all the love.
Students also randomly chose the
name of one of the students in our class, and they wrote about what they liked
about them on a heart. These hearts will be posted on our door to show how
loving and caring we all are!
