Wonderful
Wednesday!
Tomorrow is Spirit Day! We will be
wearing Red, Pink, and/or White.
We will be
having a Review Spelling
test tomorrow.
Registration packages are due tomorrow.
Summative project: Students are to create their own mechanism using at least one simple machine. Students are to create something that does not already exist and needs to have a purpose/function for humans. These are to be completed at home and on February 17 students will present their mechanism to the class. Students are also to complete the writing portion at home.
We
began the day writing our homework in our agendas.
During UOI we did a Simple Machines
Review. We first matched the name of the simple machine to the picture of an
every day object. We then came up with our own example of each simple machine,
drew it, and wrote the simple machine being represented.
After first recess and lunch,
students had Math. We looked at a triangular prism, rectangular prism, and a square
pyramid. We worked as a class to figure out the number of faces, edges, and
vertices each shape has:
We were then given two
shapes and we needed to determine the faces, vertices, and edges each one has.
After, we discussed how these shapes were the same and different. Students then
figured out the faces that a square pyramid has and a rectangular prism. After,
students competed a shape challenge:
After first recess and
lunch, students had Music.
When students returned,
they completed their Simple Machines Review and then began working on a Simple
Machines Flip Flap book where students will show their knowledge of our unit.
After second recess and
lunch, students presented their poem to the class. Rubrics went home today,
explaining how the students will be marked next Friday.
Students then worked on Valentine

crossword puzzle and then needed to unscramble Valentine words.
