Wonderful Wednesday!
Tomorrow we will be having our
in school poem and speeches competition. Parents, family, and friends are all
welcome to attend. We are beginning at 9am.
So parents are aware, we will have our test on 3-D Geometry next Wednesday March 3rd.
Family Tree Presentation
NEXT FRIDAY:
Students are to complete the two
sheets going home today for next Friday March 5th. Students are to fill out the
family tree sheet and be prepared to present it to the class on Friday.
Students are also asked to come up with another symbol to represent their
family tree. They are to draw this symbol on the blank sheet going home and fit
all their family members on it (only immediate family: brother, sister, mother,
father); students will explain why they chose their symbol to the class during
their short presentation. An example: My family likes to go camping a lot and
we use the canoe to go fishing so I decided to use a canoe as a symbol for my
family and put all my family members on each paddle.
Culture assignment
1. Students are to bring in a picture of an important
holiday, tradition, or celebration part of their culture.
2. They are to explain the holiday, tradition, or
celebration to the class
3. They will also describe how they celebrate the holiday,
tradition, or celebration at home.
(2-3 minute presentation)
Students will present on Monday,
February 29, 2016
We began the day writing
our homework in our agendas.
During UOI, we learned
about family tress. First Ms. Jaskolka showed us her family tree. We then
discussed what a family tree is and what it’s purpose is:
a drawing or chart that
shows how the different members of a family are related to each other. Who goes on it? Some family trees just extend to your family and
grandparents, others go further into the family (cousins, aunts etc.) We then
we watched a short video that explained more about what a family tree is.
We then moved onto Math.
Students continued working on their 3-D nets for a cone, cube, cylinder, square pyramid, triangular prism.
They wrote the following attributes on each net:
___faces, ___ edges, ___ vertices, name of solid, I am a 3D
shape, I look like ____
After, students continued
working on explanation writing. Today students continued working on
their rough copies and began their good copies about their mechanical toy.
Students are focusing on the name, how it works, what their mechanical toy can
do, what their mechanical toy can do for them or with them, and what it looks
like. Students ensured to use as much detail as possible.
After first recess and
lunch, students took part in an anti-bullying workshop.
Students then had French
with Mdm. Stella.
After second recess and
lunch, students had physical education with Mr. Slyk.
