Half the students did the Simple Machines
Workshop in the morning and half in the afternoon. When students were with Ms.
Jaskolka they worked on Math and UOI.
During math, students used 3-D shapes to
build objects with play dough. Students chose an object out of their math book
to make. Students first needed to figure out the 3-D shapes that their object
was made of. Then students used play dough to make each shape. After, students
explained the 3-D shapes that they used. After, students chose one 3-D shape to
make out of play dough and then students wrote an explanation to a friend how
they would go about making their shape. When students were finished, they
looked at two pictures and determined the 3-D shapes hidden within.
During UOI, students continued working on
their Simple Machines Flip Flap book, showing their understanding of our
current unit of inquiry.
