Fantastic Friday!

Check out our incredible futuristic transportation that will be displayed during Art’s Night in June!!!

We began the day having French with Mlle. Jessica.

We then wrote our spelling test.

Next we were of to gym.

We then moved onto math. We learned about perimeter today. We were first faced with a real life situation that showed us the importance of knowing perimeter. Ms. Jaskolka posed the following problem: You need to build a fence around your garden in order to keep any animals away from your vegetables, how would you go about doing so? While working in our table groups measuring tape on our desk, we realized that we would need to measure each side but then we realized that we would also need to add all the sides together to know how much fencing we would need; that’s perimeter!! We then showed our understanding of perimeter in our math books.

Following first recess and lunch we began working on our summative project. We have completed our role as a journalist and now we are taking on the role of an author. We will be using our interviews to help us write a story about someone who has migrated from another country to Canada. We did an example as a whole of Grade 2:

We then began working on our storyboard, getting all of our ideas organized. We will be using our storyboard to write our story beginning on Monday.

After second recess and lunch we read chapter 8 of The Borrowers. We then had some sharing time.

At the end of the day, we had the important task of cleaning up our schoolyard! We had fun while helping the planet!!!
