Tremendous Thursday!!

We began the day with math. We took up the homework from last night. During our learning today it was reinforced that when comparing ratios, the second term needs to be the same. In order for the second terms to be the same we look for the LCM of both numbers. Once we do that, we multiply the first term by the same number that we multiplied the second term.

Example:

2:3.     1:7

The LCM for 3 and 7 is 21.

Then we would multiply the 2 by 7 (since we multiplied the 3 by 7 to get 21) which gets us 14
14:21

Then we would multiply 1 by 3 (since we multiplied 7 by 3 to get 21) which gets us 3
3:21

Now we can compare the two ratios because the second term is the same and we can see the 14:21 is a bigger ratio than 3:21 so that also means that 2:3 is a bigger ratio than 1:7.

We then worked on our cars.

After first recess and lunch we wrote our Ontario writing assessment and then continued working on our cars.

After second recess and lunch some of us went to gym and some of us stayed behind to continue working on our cars. Science Fair is Friday and it is important that the students are staying on track and finished building their cars and the writing component as well.

Those students who have finished building their car and the writing component began making kites!! Our current UOI is on flight so for our art project for this unit we are making kites that we will hang up in our room.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

A reminder there is no school this Friday. The next Caribou contest is next Wednesday, November 14th. Please ensure students arrive by 7:15 AM with a charged working laptop. Students who arrive late will not be able to write the test.
