Wonderful Wednesday!!
We began the day having French with Mlle.
Jessica.
We then moved onto Math. First, we sat in a
circle and we practiced mental math as a group using number cards. Ms. Jaskolka
timed us to see how quick we could use our mental math skills. Today our time
was 3 minutes and 45 seconds. Tomorrow we will try to beat this time! We
continued using 10s and multiples of ten to help us with mental addition. We
did some examples as a class and then we showed our understanding in our math
books.
Next we had physical education with Mr. H.
When we returned, we continued working on
Math.
Following first recess and lunch, we
continued with our Math.
We then learned more about how birthday are
celebrated around the world. As a class, we read about how birthdays are
celebrated in Hungary, Israel, the Philippines, China, Ecuador, India, and
South Africa. We then worked in groups on a quiz related to birthdays
celebrated in these places. We had so much fun!! Tomorrow we will find out if
our answers are correct and get house points if they are!!
After second recess and lunch we learned
how to write proper list. We first looked at an example of a list as a class
about how to study spelling words. We noticed that the list included a title,
numbers in order, sentences that began with a capital and ended with a period,
and events that were listed in order. After we understood how to write a proper
list we chose our own topic and wrote our own list.
At the end of the day, we discussed as a
group how we could be a colourful friend. Here are some ideas we came up with:
