Tremendous Thursday!
We began the day talking about our
new unit!!! Our unit is called: How we express ourselves and the title
is Colourful Cultures. We talked about why our unit is called How we
express ourselves and the various ways we can express ourselves. We also
had a discussion about culture and the various ways we can express our culture
(art, food, clothing, architecture, holidays, traditions, celebrations). We
were then given brainstorms of 6 celebrations and we brainstormed in groups
everything we knew about them. We will add to these brainstorms throughout our
unit. We then wrote our questions about culture on our wonder wall.
After, we began our
colourful friends activity (we related this activity back to our cultures
unit)! Each of us were given the opportunity to secretly pick one friend and
until the end December, we will do our best to do and say kind things to the
colourful friend that we picked. What a great way to celebrate the holiday
season!
After, we discussed what Christmas
is all about: family, love and kindness were some ideas (As all as Santa and
presents)! We then did an activity were we stated one way we can light up the
world with kindness. We will create a kindness tree with all our bright
ideas!!!
Then, we picked our favourite
tradition and wrote about why we love it so much!
After first recess and lunch we
began learning about division in math.
After second recess and lunch we
practiced for our student led conferences.
Then we had the opportunity to go
to the book fair! There were so many wonderful books and items to be found!!!
