Tremendous Thursday!!!
We began the day joining Mrs. Haag’s class learning about note-taking. Note-taking will be a very important skill that we will use during the year and in our lives. We learned that when we practice note-taking we are practicing academic honesty so that when we go to write about a specific topic we are not plagiarising the information. We learned that within each paragraph there is normally one big idea and then supporting ideas. We practiced looking at different articles and using a t-chart, we identified the big ideas and the supporting ideas within each paragraph. We also practiced citing an article from the internet using MLA format.
Next, we began working on a writing pre-assessment about the legend style and format. In doing so, we are showing Ms. Jaskolka our current understanding of how to write a legend and also our writing skills.
Then we had French with Mdm. Stella.
After first recess and lunch we made a checklist for the action word poem that we are going to write tomorrow so that we understand the criteria and our expectations.
Next, we had Music with Mr. Oliver and then another exciting house game!!!!! Check it out!
After second recess and lunch we dove into our new unit of inquiry about electricity. We discussed the central idea and then the lines of inquiries. Then we worked on an activity where we identified the key concepts that correlated with the each line of inquiry. We also completed a KWL chart about our new unit (what I know, what I want to know, and what I learned). We also wrote down a question about our new unit and posted it on our wonder wall.
