Tremendous Tuesday!!

SJA is excited to announce that Year Ahead Day is happening again this year!  All SJA PYP students will be participating in this exciting event on Wednesday, January 25th.   Year Ahead Day is a fun and interactive day for the students at SJA to spend a day in the class of the grade level ahead of them (example: SK students spend their day as Grade 1 students, Grade 6 students spend their day as Grade 7 students, etc.).  This is a great way for the students at SJA to get a glimpse into their future life at SJA!  Students can get to know the teachers, see their future classroom, and take part in activities they will be participating in next year. Please know that the teacher that is assigned for your child does not mean this will be your child's classroom teacher next year.

Our class will being going to Ms. Glover's and Ms. Hung's room for the day. So exciting!!

We began the day having French with Mlle. Jessica.

After, we needed to combine our tally results from our survey of our grades 1-3 cultures at St. Jude’s Academy so that Mr. Sawatsky could be given the final results. First we worked in groups to problem solve how we would tally up all the results and put them all together using chart paper.

We also went over to the grade 1’s Healthy food sale and bought some healthy treats while supporting Sick Kid’s hospital. Great action my friends!!

After, we were off to physical education with Mr. H.

When students returned, they continued working on tallying their results in groups.

Following first recess and lunch, Ms. Baimas and Ms. Jaskolka had a challenge for us!!! In both grade two classrooms there were envelopes filled with clues about a specific holiday. To show our knowledge and understanding of our cultures unit, we worked in groups to figure out the holiday that the clues were from. We were then challenged further by adding where this holiday or tradition comes from and any extra detail we knew about the items or holiday. We had so much fun!!!

At the end of the day, we finished tallying our results for Mr. Sawatsky and our Chinese Zodiac animals from yesterday.

Have a great night my friends!
