Wonderful Wednesday!
We began the day working on our summative
projects and doing a good deed for those in our community.
Next we had French and then gym.
After first recess and lunch we had Music.
When students returned, we reviewed our
doubles and make ten strategy when adding one digit numbers. We then looked at
some strategies when it comes to subtraction. We can use doubles to help us!!!!
When given a number that has a double, we know the answer is the other double!!
For example:
18-9=9
We know that 9+9 =18 so when answering the
question 18-9 we can use our knowledge of doubles to help us!!!!
We also found out that we can use the
addition chart to help us with subtraction!!
For example:
16-9
We would look for the number 9 at the top
of the addition chart. We would go down the column until we found the number
16. Last, we look at the row the number 16 is in which is 9, so our answer is
9!

Using our new strategies when it comes to
subtraction we solved two fun riddles!!!!
After second recess and lunch we continued
working on our summative projects.
