Fantastic Friday!

Mr. Foster’s Farmers Market and Ms. Gandy’s Groceries

As part of their summative assessment the grade one classes have decided to open a market to complement their organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 12 and 18. The market will take place all day Thursday, January 23rd and Friday, January 24th. All profits made will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

After first recess and lunch we had French.

Next, we reviewed the age of exploration and how it was fuelled by a search for another route to Asia using water instead of land. Students investigated how the English followed in the search for a short cut to Asia with another Italian sailor, Giovanni Caboto (John Cabot). We discussed French and English exploration and about Henry Hudson’s attempts to make it to Asia using what is now known as the northwest passage.

After second recess and lunch, we began working on our summative project investigating an explorer that explored America during the age of exploration and we will make an RSA Animate to describe their expedition.

Homework:
1. Read Daily
2. Speech - 1st paragraph
3. Math test Monday
4. UOI test Tuesday
5. Add Giovanni da Verrazano, John Cabot and Henry Hudson to timeline
