Wonderful Wednesday!

We began the day having art with Mr. Monaghan and physical education with Ms. DaCosta.

When students returned, we looked at three different commercials for UOI:
We discussed the important techniques used in these commercials and then students chose one commercial they wanted to write about and completed the first page of their Media Booklet about TV advertisements. Students discussed the techniques, purpose, and target audience for the commercial.

In Math, we began our third unit: Time, Temperature, Money. First our focus will be time. We looked at a picture of a farm and students imagined that they were visiting a farm. They were asked: which takes more time: picking an apple or growing an apple from blossom to fruit? Which takes more time: riding a bus out to the apple farm or eating an apple? Which is colder: an apple on the tree or an apple in the refrigerator? Which is a warmer time: summer or spring? As a class we made up a story about going to the farm: We are going to visit the apple farm. First we will get on the bus. Then what will we do? As a class, we listed more things on the board.

We noticed how the events were all in order of when they happened. We discussed which takes the most time and the least time. Looking back at the picture of a farm, we talked about the season that we saw, which is fall. We spoke about the temperature; we knew it was a bit chilly because the people in the picture were wearing sweaters and scarves. Students also completed one page in their Math Makes Sense.

After first recess and lunch, students had French.

When they returned, they wrote their homework in their agendas.

During second lunch, students reviewed their 2 and 3 times table.

After second recess and lunch, students continued writing about their pumpkin using adjectives.

Afterwards, we practiced the three ways to read a book for Daily 5. Students did a fantastic job reading the pictures, reading the words, and then retelling the story. We can now begin doing Read to Self and building our stamina.

Homework:
1.     Read for 20 minutes: Read in three different ways
2.     Food Drive Donations

3.     Money for Bake Sale
