 Magnificent Monday!

****Parents we need white board markers for our class. If you could kindly bring some in, that would be a wonderful help!

We began the day having art with Mr. Monaghan and physical education with Ms. Lovan.

When students returned, they continued working on their math review. Students went over how to estimate, count by grouping, and using a hundreds chart to find a pattern.

During UOI, we continued to inquire into the different techniques that are used in various forms of media.  We looked at the 4 different kinds of media that we discussed last week.
Mcdonalds commercial
Marineland radio commercial
Toys R Us Flyer
We focused on the techniques used in each. Here is what we observed/heard:

Afterwards, we learned about the different gimmicks that are used in advertisements by creating a website for a cereal box. We chose the theme for the website. Companies often use magical locations for their Websites to make them exciting places to visit. We chose a catchy phrase. We picked a spokes character; a lot of kids like animals, so they are often used.  A great way to get kids to remember the product is by playing with it, so we chose to add a create your own cereal option box to our website. We also added an option to join the Co-Co club so that kids will come back often.
Students can play this again at home:

We also looked learned how the way something appears on TV, is not how it actually looks like when we buy it. For example, we looked at a McDonalds burger that looked so yummy but then we saw a picture of what it actually looks like and it is not the same. We came to the conclusion that companies often make their products look better in advertisements so people want to buy or use it.

After first recess and lunch, students had French.

Whens students returned, they wrote their homework in their agenda and then we played our cursive game from last week.

During second lunch, we practiced the two and three times table.

Afterwards, students wrote out their spelling words for the week and completed the lesson in their workbooks.

At the end of the day we reviewed Read to Self and what we need to keep in mind during this time. We need to ensure to choose I “PICK” books and that we are reading the pictures, reading the words and then retelling the story.

We read Berenstain Bears and Too much TV as a class, reviewing the three ways to read a book.

Let us tell you about what we did and learned today:

Homework:

1.     Read for 20 minuets
2.     Food drive donations
3.     Math Test tomorrow
