 Wonderful Wednesday!

****Parents we need white board markers for our class. If you could kindly bring some in, that would be a wonderful help!

**** Picture Day is Monday October 27 2014 – Please have students come in their full uniform.

We began the day reading chapter 7 of Flat Stanley and the Japanese Ninja Surprise. We found out that Oda Nobu left behind origami ninja stars so that Stanley could find him. Stanley and his family followed the stars until they reached a lake, where Stanley turned himself into a boat. His family went on Stanley, one by one, so they could reach the island that they thought Odu Nobu was trapped on. Once they got to the other side, Stanley peeked through the window of a pagoda (a tiered tower built in the traditions originating in historic East Asia)

and saw Oda Nobu all tied up! When we were finished reading, students wrote what happened at the beginning, middle, and end of the chapter.

Students then had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

When students returned we watched the story of the three little pigs from the pigs point of view.
After, we read The true story of the 3 little pigs which was from the wolf’s point of view.

We learned that because the pigs and wolf have two different sides to the story, they have two different points of view. We unpacked these two different points of view by discussing the differences between the books:

We also discussed why there were differences between the two books. We came to the conclusion that both the pigs and the wolf want the audience to believe them so they will try and make each other look bad; the pigs want to look innocent and so does the wolf.

We then learned that when we are looking at different kinds of media, it is important to know from who's point of view we are getting the information from. It is important when looking at different kinds of media, to question what we are reading/hearing/seeing. When looking at different kinds of media, we may not always be getting the whole truth and all the information we need, so it is important to ask questions and learn more about the information that we are given.

In math, we reviewed number facts to 18 and how to write a number sentence using pictures. Students then created their own addition and subtraction sentences with pictures and numerals. Students also traded the pictures they made with a partner who needed to figure out the addition and subtraction sentence.

After first recess and lunch, students had French.

When students returned, they wrote their homework in their agenda and then completed any unfinished work.

During second recess, we sang the multiplication song again.

Afterwards, we reviewed the important parts of a letter and then students were given a letter to correct. Students were also given a checklist to make sure that all the important parts of a letter were included.

For visual arts, we finished making our spooky/silly witches.

Let us tell you what we learned:

(Klara was already gone home. Next time we will try and make this video before she leaves).
