Wonderful Wednesday!

Parents we need empty Kleenex boxes for an activity we are doing next week. If you have one, please recycle and bring them in for us to use.
Bake Sale tomorrow. All the money we collect will be used for a PA system and audio books!

Casual Day tomorrow.

Macbeth tickets are on sale! All the money collected will go to our SJA Science program!

We began the day reading the first chapter of Freckle Juice. We found out that Andrew wished he had freckles so his mother would not know when he is dirty. At the beginning of the chapter Andrew was daydreaming about Nicky’s freckles (another students in his class) and wishing he has them also. Sharon let him know that he could also have freckles by drinking freckle juice but it would cost him fifty cents. Students completed a quiz about the chapter afterwards.

We were then off to physical education with Ms. Lovan.

During UOI we learned about friction (the force that holds back the movement of a sliding object) and inclined planes (a slanting surface connecting a lower level to a higher level). We did an experiment to see how different surfaces affect how far a toy car would be able to travel. We used sandpaper, wax paper, white paper, and aluminum foil. We first made a hypothesis about which surface we think the car would travel the farthest and shortest on. We also made predictions about how far the car would travel on each surface. We then headed to Ms. DaCosta’s class and preformed our experiment in groups. We will continue tomorrow.

During math, we conducted another survey. We chose three foods and went over to another class and asked them which they liked best. We made a tally to record our information and then made a bar graph to show the results of our survey. We then discussed what we have learned about conducting surveys:

1.     Choose a question
2.     Decide how to collect your data
3.     Ask each person your question
4.     Tally the results
5.     Make a bar graph
Then we use the bar graph to explain what kind of information it is giving us.

After first recess and lunch we had French. When students returned they wrote their homework in their agendas and did some silent reading.

After second recess and lunch we finished up our letters to Hong Kong.

During art, we kept working on our stick figure portrait.

Homework:

1.     Read for 20 minutes
2.     Bake sale tomorrow
3.     Casual Day tomorrow

4.     Math Test next Wednesday
