Fantastic Friday!

Summative projects went home today along with the rubric. Students are to create their own mechanism using at least one simple machine. Students are to create something that does not already exist and needs to have a purpose/function for humans. These are to be completed at home and on February 12 students will present their mechanism to the class.

We began the day having a scientist in the class who taught us so much about simple machines!! First, scientist Daniela showed us how a lever works using Ms. Jaskolka! Sarah came up and tried to pick up Ms. Jaskolka but it was too hard. Then, Sarah and Ms. Jaskolka went on a lever to see if Sarah could pick her up, but she still could not. We then realized we needed to move the fulcrum closer to Ms. Jaskolka and then Sarah picked her up!!!

We then rotated through different centres in groups, learning about each simple machine. Here we are:

After first recess and lunch we had French. After we practiced our poems and then said them in front of the class. Here we are:

We are getting better and better!!! Ms. Jaskolka let us know some things that we can work on that can help us perform our poems confidently.

After second recess and lunch we practiced Read to Self.

We then had our unit 16 spelling test.

At the end of the day we had a little bit of free time since we have been working so hard!!!
