Tremendous Tuesday!
We began the day having French with Mlle.
Jessica.
We then moved onto Math. We worked together
to figure out the prices of various toys; we tried to find at least to ways of
getting the answer. After we practiced our addition
skills: we were given four objects and we needed to figure out which three we
could buy with 95 cents. We then showed our
understanding of counting money in our math books.
Next, we had physical education with Mr. H.
When students returned they continued
working on money counting activities.
Following first recess and lunch, students
had Music.
We then began our new unit!!! Our unit is
called: How we express ourselves and
the title is Colourful Cultures. We
talked about why our unit is called How
we express ourselves and the various ways we can express ourselves. We also
had a discussion about culture and the various ways we can express our culture
(art, food, clothing, architecture, holidays, traditions, celebrations). We
were then given brainstorms of 5 celebrations and we brainstormed in groups
everything we knew about them. We will add to these brainstorms throughout our
unit. We then wrote our questions about culture on our wonder wall.
We then continued our art from yesterday.
Following first recess and lunch, we made a
journal entry about ourselves. Within our cultures unit we will be learning
about our own cultures and about who we are so in our journals we talked about
ourselves. We ensured to focus on using proper writing conventions.
We then finished our art from yesterday. We
worked very hard to use shading properly. Look at what an amazing job we did!
