Tremendous Thursday!!!

Wow how quickly this week is flying by!!!

We began the day learning from Arya how to say hello in Swahili ‘Jambo’ and we greeted Ms. Jaskolka this morning in Swahili! This led to a discussion about International Day! We will be exploring the country of Tanzania! Each student was given a research topic and are being asked to bring in their information by September 25th. Happy inquiring!!

We then worked as a team through the place value follow me cards. Today we were able to complete this activity in 4 minutes and 46 seconds!!!

Next we had French and then Gym.

After first recess and lunch we explored patterns and counting on a hundreds chart. We learned about rows, columns, and diagonals on a hundred’s chart. We then played a mystery number game using our hundred’s chart. Ms. Jaskolka called out a mystery number riddle and we worked hard to figure it out!! For example: I am ten more than 46, who am I (56). We then learned more about even and odd numbers and how we can determine if a number is even or odd (an even number can be split in half but an odd number cannot). Next we worked in partners to explore patterns of 2, 5 and 10 on a hundred’s chart. We then answered questions in our math book about patterns on a hundred’s chart using even and odd numbers.

Following second recess and lunch we celebrated and spoke about the heroes of our community!! We then imagined our own community and the four community heroes we would need to include and why. We began working on an activity highlighting these community heroes.
