Tremendous Tuesday!

We began the day with math.

Learning Goals: -converting fractions and decimals into percents and investigating outcomes of experiments

First we practiced skills needed for this unit: converting fractions and decimals into percents.

Then we reviewed what it means when an outcome is equally likely and how to represent this information using a tree diagram.

Example:

We did examples as a class and textbook questions.

Success Criteria:

-I can convert fractions into decimals
-I can convert decimals into percents

I understand that:
-an outcome is the possible result of an experiment or an action
-a tree diagram can be used to show the possible outcomes for an experiment that has two or more actions

I can:
-create a tree diagram based on the information given
-solve questions about possible outcomes using a tree diagram

Then we took up the questions for the novel study for the final chapter. Important learning today: Jess learned to be caring in Terabithia even when faced with predators. We talked about what this means. It is not always easy to be kind but when we choose kindness, even when it is not easy, we are showing strength and courage, restraint, and that we are choosing the high road just like Leslie. When Janice Avery was crying in the washroom, Leslie could have left her there, but she chose kindness and tried to listen to her and comfort her, even though Janice was unkind to Leslie and many others at school. This is an important lesson for everyone to learn. To be kind, even when it is the most difficult.

We spent the rest of the day working on our summative project as well as in French and Music class.
