Tremendous Thursday!

We began the day with Music.

Next we dove into math.

Learning Goals: to recognize transformation images
3 types of transformations? (Translations, reflections, and rotations)
-What is a translation? (A translation moves a figure along a straight line)
-What is a reflection? (A reflection is a flip. The figure and it image face opposite ways and are the same distance from the mirror line)
-What is a rotation? (A rotation is a turn. The figure and its image may face different ways.)

Today we focused on translations and reflections. Tomorrow we will work on rotations.

Students can watch these videos to gain a better understanding of transformations.

We did some examples as a class and answered questions about transformations and how a figure has moved. Students are reminded that we are looking at how the original figure has moved to create an image.

Success Criteria:

I understand that:
- a figure can be transformed using a translation and reflection
- a figure and its image under a transformation are congruent
I can identify a:
-translation
-reflection
Of a figure
I can draw a:
-translation
-reflection
Of a figure

After first recess and lunch we had French.

Next, we did a review on classifying figures and congruent figures.

After second recess and lunch we began our UOI project learning more about a Canadian province and using their PEPS to encourage people to relocate to that province. We are working in partners to research about the PEPS of a Canadian province and we will create a commercial attracting people to come to that province based on their PEPS.

Homework:

1. Read Daily
2. UOI: Research on Canadian province
3. UOI: Uruguay, Egypt, Senegal, Spain and United Kingdom to map
4. Math sheets (most finished in class)
5. House tie and gym day tomorrow
