Tremendous Tuesday!

We began the day with math.

Learning Goal: construct and analyse tiling patterns

We discussed where we have seen tiling in our environment.

Questions Guiding our lesson:
-Where have you seen tiling patterns? (On the brick walls, floors, counters, checkboards)
-Which figures do you know that tile a surface (a square and a rectangle)
-What do you we mean when we say that a figure tiles a surface? (We mean that the figure covers a surface with no gaps or overlaps)

We went through the criteria needed in order to tile a plane: There can be no gaps and all the angles that meet at a vertex need to add up to 360 degrees.

Success Criteria:

I understand that:

-a figure tiles the plane if congruent copies of the figure cover a page and leave no gaps
-a triangle and a quadrilateral always tile the plane

Then we moved onto sharing our research information and storyboard with our partner. We also worked on our script.

After first recess and lunch we had French.

Then we worked on making a video to persuade our audience to come and live in our chosen province. We are reminded to use persuasive techniques when working on our videos.

Tomorrow we will work on the voice over.

It is so impressive to see students working with different kinds of technology and being so knowledgeable about how it works!!!!

Homework:

1. Read Daily
2. Math pg. 268-9 Questions 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 Challenge Question 4 and 7
3. UOI: Barbados, Madagascar, Sweden, Malaysia, Mali and Pakistan  (from Friday)
