A note from Ms. Gandy regarding March hot lunch orders
The lunch site is now open and will close Wednesday, February 26th at 3:00 PM sharp.

Special of the month: French Toast with Whipped Cream and Syrup

Caribou Math Contest
The next Caribou contest will be taking place Wednesday, February 26. Students are to arrive at 7:15 AM for a 7:30  start. They should bring their own charged devices. The interactive question for Grades 2-10 will be Bomb Defuser and for Grade 11/12 it will be GeomeTree requiring a construction involving lines and circles. Because Caribou’s GeomeTree site can be used to solve the interactive question, this site will be blocked at noon on Tuesday, February 25th. Both interactive questions are accessible from Caribou’s Games/History page.

Our next extra-curricular activity is skiing/snowboarding at Glen Eden Ski Resort. Our next trip is Wednesday, March 4. Please do not order lunch for these days; it will not be saved nor will a reimbursement be given. We will be leaving at 7:00 AM and returning by 4:00 PM at the latest. All rentals are included, however students are more than welcome to bring their own. Please do not order hot lunch for these days as we will be eating lunch at the ski hill – students are welcome to bring money to purchase food and drink items. Students must ensure they are dressed in appropriate ski gear; warm socks, long johns with comfy clothes, snow pants, warm mitts, a face protector (if possible) and a ski jacket. Please note that if students chose skiing, they will ski all three times. If students pick snowboarding, they will snowboard all three times. All students will have to pass each level before they are granted permission to ski on the big hill, no matter what their experience.

March Break Camps
Forms have been sent home regarding SJA’s awesome Adventure Camp. The wonderful camp will run from Monday to Friday both weeks of the March Break (March 9-13 & March 16-20) and is offered to student from JK to Grade 6. Field trips will take place on Thursday afternoons. Meal plans are also included if you chose to do so. Cash or QuickBooks payments only please. Don’t delay; register today! Contact Ms. Hughes at bsmith@stjudesacademy.com for any questions.

We began the day with our pancake eating contest!

 Then we had math.

Learning Goals: determine probability from experiments

We did some examples as a class to check for understanding.

A reminder: when finding the relative frequency, when doing long division, the denominator (total amount) goes on the outside and the numerator (number of times an outcome occurs) goes on the inside; dividing the denominator into the numerator to find the relative frequency.

Success Criteria:

I understand that:

-Relative frequency is the number of times an outcome occurs divided by the total number of times the experiment is conducted
-Relative frequency may be written as a fraction, a decimal or percent
- Relative frequency is also called experimental probability
-The sum of the relative frequencies for an experiment is 1

The rest of the day was spent working on our UOI summative as well as in French class and physical education.

Homework and Reminders:

1. Read Daily
2. Math pg. 411-412 Q. 1 and 2
3. UOI - finish research, offerings and needs
4. Caribou Math tomorrow
5. Pink shirt day tomorrow
6. French homework on adjectives
