Wonderful Wednesday!!

We began the day having French with Mlle. Jessica.

We then moved onto Math. We first reviewed what we learned yesterday about making patters of 2, 5, and 10 on a hundred’s chart. We then worked on a challenge as a class. Our challenge: Will you reach 73 if you count by 5’s starting at 53? We begin at 53, then counted by 5’s to see if we reached 73 and we did! After, we were each given two more challenges that we needed to figure out.

We then had physical education with Mr. H.

When we returned, we continued on our math challenge.

Following first recess and lunch, we had Music.

Next, we learned what it means to write a proper explanation. When we are writing an explanation that means we are explaining about a certain topic. When we are explaining about a certain topic we try our best to answer who, what, where, when, why, and how using detail. As a class, we did a brainstorm about how we would go about explaining a banana to someone who has never seen one before. In our brainstorm, we are focusing on our ideas and not writing full sentences. Some ideas were: looks like a moon, fruit, grown on a tree, found in tropical areas, monkeys like to eat them, healthy …. After we did a brainstorm as a class, we began writing our rough copies of our explanations.

We then watched a Magic School Bus video to explore the digestive system and what happens to our food when inside of our bodies. We learned that first the food gets broken down, and then enters our esophagus, our stomach, and then our small and large intestine. We also came to understand that food is fuel!! Just like a car needs fuel/gas to work, we also need fuel/healthy food in order to have energy.

After second recess and lunch, we read chapter 12 of Charlotte’s web and then we wrote about what we thought will happen at the end of the book.

At the end of the day we were able to see how the crocodile in our class has hatched and grown and we were also able to feel him!
