We began the day having French with Mlle. Jessica.

We then continued exploring 2-D shapes. We looked at the big math book and discussed the various shapes that we saw and explained how we knew (I know it is a triangle because it has 3 edges and 3 vertices.) We then looked at another page of the big math book and solved riddles about 2-D shapes (I have six sides. Who am I? I am a hexagon; I have 4 sides. I am longer than I am wide. Who am I? I am a rectangle).

Students were then off to gym.

When students returned, they found a 2-D shape on their desk and they needed to find a friend with the exact same shape. When each student found their matching shape, they explained how they know that they have the same shape (ex: both our shapes are flat, have 3 corners and 3 sides). When we were finished working with our partners, we picked two 2-D shapes and explained two ways they are the same and one way they are different.

Following first recess and lunch we had Music.

When students returned, we wrote a persuasive advertisement for a cake. We first used a graphic organizer to organize our ideas and then we wrote out our persuasive advertisement. We are learning how to use words to persuade others to buy our product.

Following second recess and lunch, we continued working on our advertisement and then we began reading chapter 11 of the Borrowers.

Homework:
1.    Read for 20 minutes

3.     Students are also asked to bring in a picture of themselves that is about 8cm by 8cm
