Fantastic Friday!!!

We began with math. We reviewed had to find the area of a trapezoid and then worked on questions related to an area of a trapezoid.

A trapezoid
-how would you describe it? (it has 4 sides and two sides are parallel)
-Why are rectangles, squares and parallelograms also trapezoids? (Each has 2 pairs of parallel sides. A trapezoid has one pair of parallel sides, so these figures are trapezoids.)
-Which figures can you divide a trapezoid into? (Rectangles, triangles, and parallelograms)

We learned how we can divide the trapezoid into squares, rectangles, parallelograms and triangles to help us find the area of a trapezoid.

Then we had French.

After first recess and lunch we finished the research portion for our RSA Animate summative project on the explorer of our choice.

Next, we worked on our speeches. Student had a whole hour to work on their speeches. Counter arguments were finished today and Introductions are due on Monday.

Counter argument:
When you counter-argue, you consider a possible argument against your speech topic or some aspect of your reasoning. It can be a persuasive and (in both senses of the word) disarming tactic. It allows you to anticipate doubts and pre-empt objections that a skeptical reader might have; it presents you as the kind of person who weighs alternatives before arguing for one, who confronts difficulties instead of sweeping them under the rug, who is more interested in discovering the truth than winning a point.

An explanation on how to write an introduction is in the speech duo-tang.

After second recess and lunch we had physical education with Mr. Orr.
