Marvelous Monday! 

We began the day writing our math test on fractions and decimals.

Next, we had French.

After first recess and lunch we watched a video about the Vikings.

Then we had Music. 

When we returned, we continued watching a video about the Vikings. We learned:

-       Origins of Vikings (Scandinavia, Norway)

-       Viking way of life 

-       Settlement of Iceland and Greenland

-       Sagas

-       Success of Viking boatbuilding technology, longboats and sails, navigating without a compass – using stars and environment (type of sea life), etc.

-       Vinland

-       Important Viking sailors Bjarni Herjolfsson,  Eirik the Red, and Leif the Lucky, Thorfinn Karlsefni

-       Archeological evidence at L’Anse Meadows in NFL and how this is similar to digs in Greenland

After second recess and lunch, we worked on our speeches. Today we decided which reasons out of our five were strongest to include in our speech and we researched more about each reason.
