Wonderful Wednesday!!!

Tomorrow is Bake Sale and Casual Day.

A note from Ms. Melissa regarding re-registration packages - Just a friendly reminder that re-registration packages are due no later than Monday, February 11.  After this time, spots will be opened up to the public and your child will not be guaranteed a space for next year.  We look forward to seeing you back for next year!

The first class who hands in their forms gets a Pizza party!!

A note regarding speeches – Due to our growing population at SJA, this year speeches will be split into two days. On Thursday, February 7th, JK-Grade 2 will recite their poems and stories and on Friday, February 8th, Grade 4-8 will recite their speeches.

Jump Rope for Heart – It is that time again! We will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, February 14th. Donation packages have been sent home. You can make a pledge using cash or you can donate on the website - jumpropeforheart.ca. House points will be rewarded to each student who brings in donations. If we meet our school goal of $2500, students will be rewarded with a fun activity. Let’s see what we can do SJA!

Book Fair – Ms. Hayward and her book fair crew have already begun discussing our book fair. It will be taking place during the week of February 4th to 8th

Don't miss out on your chance to reserve your spot for our March Break Camp!!

SJA Parent Guild is hosting a cookie decorating party for Valentine’s Day. For $5, students can decorate 4 cookies. Forms have been sent home and are due back, along with money, by Friday, February 1st. Payments options are cash, e-transfer or cheque, which can be made out to SJA Parent Guild. Do not miss out on the fun event!!

We began the day taking up our math review. We took up each question as a class and Ms. Jaskolka also gave us the answers so that we could look to see if we made any mistakes and how to fix them.

Then we had French.

After first recess and lunch we began working on our Explorers RSA Animate project. Students practiced their RSA Animate using chart papers and markers. Students who were happy with their rehearsals began shooting their video. For the next step, students need a video editor that will allow them to speed up the video as well as remove the original sound track and narrate a new one using the sped-up version of the video. We have a couple of suggestions of video editing software: Lightworks, an app for Andorid devices called Kinemaster, and an app for iMovie called SpeedPro. Here is an example of a professional RSA Animate and Grade 6 student’s work.

Then we had Music.

When we returned, we continued working on our RSA.

After second recess and lunch students worked on speeches. Students are now finished the rough draft of their speech, they need to ensure that their speech is 3-5 minutes long and look over the rubric to ensure they have met all the criteria. Students will then work on the good copy of their speech. I will be marking the good copy. Students also need to submit their rough drafts as well.

Homework:

1.    Read Daily
2.    Math test tomorrow
3.    Speech needs to be finished and students are to begin practicing to ensure that their speech is 3-5 minutes long
4.    Sign Novel study rubric, Timeline rubric, Math tests, UOI test
