Tremendous Tuesday!

We began the day writing a pre-assessment for our upcoming math unit on measuring area and perimetre.

Then we worked on our speeches.

Next we had French.

After first recess and lunch, we learned about the overland route (The Silk Road) Europeans made to Asia for spices and silk. The expansion of the Ottoman Empire made the use of this route expensive. The Crusades made it even more problematic. European trade was centered around important port cities such as Genoa and Venice Technological advancements allowed travel by sea to be quicker, cheaper, and safer. These advancements included a rudder, latitude & longitude, the caravel, astrolabe, etc. We made notes and completed a map that shows the routes that were used. We also explored the seven reasons for exploration that we will discuss further as we learn more about European explorers. We also completed a table that shows technological advancements during the Age of Exploration.

At the end of the day we had physical education.
