Wonderful Wednesday!

**Saturday October 3 The Maples is having a Fall Fair!! Come and join in the fun!!**

**Next Wednesday September 30 we will be having the Terry Fox run. Pledge forms went home today. Please have your child come in comfortable casual clothing because we will be running outside. Thanks so much!**

**We will be having our first unit (Patterning and Sorting) test on Monday. Reviews will go home on Friday.**

**A reminder that we have Spelling tests every Friday. **

We began the day having French with Mdm Stella.

We then sang our continents and oceans songs so we can remember them all. We then watched a video called “If the world were a village of 100 people.” In this video, we learned how many people would come from each continent based on how big or small the population is in each continent. We found out that 61 people would come from Asia! We inquired why this was and figured out that because it is the biggest continent, the most people would come from there. We learned only 5 people would come from Canada. We used our inquiry skills and decided this was because in Canada it can be really cold and more people will want to live where it is warmer.

We also learned how to say hello in the eight languages that are spoken the most in the world. Watch us, watch the video, and repeat how to say hello in eight different languages!

We also created graphs “If SJA grade 2 was a village.” We graphed our nationality/ cultural background:

Before recess, we reviewed how to write a proper sentence. We know that our sentences need to have a noun and verb and that detailed sentences also include adjectives. We were then given broken up sentences. We worked in partners to form the correct sentences. After, we identified the noun (s), verb (s), and adjectives (s). We also kept an eye out for capitals at the beginning of the sentences and a period at the end.

In math, we continued to make patterns and represent them in different ways (shape, letters, numbers, colour, symbols, words).
Students were also problem solving today. Students were given a certain amount of coloured cubes and they needed to figure out what kinds of patterns they could make.

Following second recess and lunch, we went over the expectations during Daily 5.

We then wrote our homework in our agendas and packed up for home.

2.   Adjective sheet (Front and back) due tomorrow
