Wonderful Wednesday!

***Please note the change for the Japan poster pictures:
Japan Poster

Students will bring in two pictures representing Japan in the following areas (For each area, students are to bring in at leasttwo pictures, so at least 12 pictures all together):
o   Food, shelter, transportation, recreation, clothing, and other important information.

We will use these pictures on Friday to create a travel poster on construction paper.

We began the day having French with Mdm. Stella.

In math, we started our unit into Number Relationships. We learned about the different ways that we can group objects. We looked at a big picture of grocery store items and discussed ways we could count the items by grouping. We then sat in a circle and grouped counting cubes.

We then inquired into the country Japan and practiced our research skills. Students were each given information about six different features of Japan (food, shelter, transportation, leisure, clothing, and other information). Students worked in pairs to find the information needed to fill out their graphic organizer about Japan.

After first recess and lunch we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

When we returned, we learned about how to write a proper brainstorm. A brainstorm helps us remember all of our ideas. We do not write full sentences but only the ideas we want to make sure to include in our writing. We did a brainstorm as a class about how to write a proper sentence:
Before heading for the Terry Fox run, we read about why he is so important and why he decided to begin his own marathon of hope.

Here we are at our St. Jude’s Terry Fox run of hope:

At the end of the day, we practiced again about how to write a proper sentence.

Homework:

1.     Read for 20 minutes
2.     Flyer from grocery store
3.     Pictures for Japan due Friday
4.     Adjective sheet due tomorrow
