Magnificent Monday!

We began the day having French with Mdm. Stella.

Then, we finished off our unit Coming Together in our community by choosing three pieces of work to put into our IB binders (what I worked my hardest on, my best work, and something I would like to improve on).

After, we wrote our homework in our agendas and then worked on a review for our spelling words. This lesson is a review, so the test will be based off of all words from lessons 1-5.

Following first recess and lunch, we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

We then moved into math. We counted by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s using a hundred’s chart. We reviewed the patterns that we notice. For example, when counting by tens, we can just move down one number on the hundred’s chart. When we start at 0 and count by 2’s the pattern is: 2, 4, 6, 8, 0 that always remains no matter how high up we count. When we start at 0 and count by 5’s the pattern is: 5 and 0 repeat. We then looked for patterns on a chart that went from 101-200. We used this chart to make our own patterns. We then showed our understanding in our Math Makes Sense books.

After second recess and lunch, Scott presented about his country Freezeland. We then had a conversation about various strategies that we can use to help us when we feel nervous.
Student suggestions:
-take a deep breath
-pretend no one is there
-look at the wall at the back of the room
-take a moment before presenting to just close your eyes and calm down
-pretend everyone is your mom

We have such a supportive and caring class!!

After, Karina performed some action. She brought in a big book about the world and shared this with the class.

Ronit shared with us his ribbon that he got at cross-country. He did great!

Aanika also performed some action by teaching us that a string of island is called an archipelago. Wow what a big word!!
