Tremendous Tuesday!!
Tomorrow is a Day 3 (gym – from now on students will be bussed to the new Athletic Centre)
Winter uniforms begin Tuesday, October 9th. Please ensure that all students have all of the pieces and that all pieces are worn on a daily basis(grey skirt/pants, navy blue socks, black dress shoes, long sleeve button up white dress shirt, navy blue sweater/sweater vest, tie [academic Monday-Thursday and house colour tie on Friday], and a blazer). Students will be required to wear all the pieces during morning announcements, field trips, and during transitions if going from one classroom to another. Please see Ms. Alpa for any uniform requests or inquirers. U12 Coed and U12 Development Program – Monday and Wednesday 4-5PM
**Please note that students doing any after school activity, soccer, karate, yoga, etc. will be charged until 4:00 PM in aftercare, when they will be dismissed to their program with their coach!**
Caribou Math Contest is an online mathematics contest that is held 6 times per year. Last year we did a trial run with a few students from Grade 6 and above. This year we are going to offer it to students in Grades 3 and up. This is something that will be done on a student’s own time. This will not be a focus of our math program. That being said, Dr. Kaur and Mr. Lee-Guide have offered to run a math club on Wednesday morning beginning at 8:00 AM for those who are interested – the math club has begun. There is a $15 annual fee that must be paid online at registration and the test times begin at 7:15 AM. Committed students will write the tests on:

Dean was awarded our Inquirer certificate! Great job asking questions and trying to find the answers to your questions!
When we returned, we got into our literature circles and fulfilled our specific roles within our groups for chapter 8.
Then we began working on our science fair projects!!!! Students were very excited to begin building their cars!!!! Students were trouble shooting and problem solving in order to get their motors to work! It was incredible to see the students applying their knowledge from our electricity unit, particularly about electrical circuits, when working on their cars!!
Next, we had French.
After first recess and lunch, we got into our literature circles and fulfilled our specific roles within our groups for chapter 9.
Then we had Music.
When we returned, we continued working on our International Day project about Pakistan. Students are working as a team to research and put together all our information and also on the actual presentation for Thursday!! Come join us!!
After second recess and lunch we began working on our second summative project. Students chose from 1 of two projects:
Project A:
The population of Mississauga is increasing rapidly. The Ontario Power Generating (OPG) Authority is considering which source of energy would be best for our city. Our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, is for the use of renewable energy. You are the expert on ______________________. Your responsibility is to present the facts to the provincial government of Ontario to help them to make an informed decision regarding which type of power generating facility to develop.
Assume your area has equal access to all energy sources. You may choose an energy source we have not learned about in class.

Project B:
Saskatchewan is a significant producer of uranium in the world and trades this resource internationally. There are concerns that the uranium meant for commercial power might be diverted and used in weapons. Canada’s Federal government needs an update on global trends regarding the responsible use of uranium by other countries. You are the expert on the use uranium in nuclear power. Prepare a research report to present to the government as well as a recommendation on who Canada should sell their uranium to.
